Lidl Belgium's largest and most sustainable distribution center is rising on the former Henrad site in Herentals. An investment of 122 million euros, built according to the highest BREEAM Outstanding standards. Commissioned by Heylen Warehouses, C-SITE is visually mapping this future-oriented project from start to finish through real-time photos and timelapse videos.
With an area of 43,000 m², 110 loading and unloading docks and the weekly handling of 10,000 pallets, this distribution center will play a key role in Lidl's growth in Belgium. The site, due to be operational in 2027, is being built with energy efficiency and future-proofing in mind.
Some durable features:
This project shows how modern logistics and sustainable innovation can work seamlessly together.
C-SITE plays a central role in the communication and monitoring of this large-scale construction project. During working hours, two cameras take an image every 5 minutes - so no phase is missed, from foundation to completion. The site is imaged from two strategic camera positions, so that every step is in razor-sharp focus. Using solar-powered site cameras allows us to reduce the monitoring footprint, without sacrificing imagery.
Thanks to our solution:
Since 2018, Heylen Warehouses has relied on C-SITE's expertise in monitoring their logistics projects. Innovation and collaboration with major logistics players are core aspects of their approach, giving them a leading position in the logistics sector. We at C-SITE are therefore very proud of our partnership.
Heylen Warehouses is developing several projects simultaneously in Belgium and the Netherlands. To easily monitor progress, they rely on C-SITE. By means of weekly timelapses that automatically appear in the mailbox of our contacts, employees at different locations always have the same, up-to-date information, without unnecessary travel. In addition, solar powered cameras are used as much as possible. This allows Heylen Warehouses to make a difference in terms of sustainability. In addition, all active projects are also shown daily on a large screen in the landscape office, via our'Photo Show' application.
Logistics projects like this are built very quickly and efficiently. This results in mediagenic images. For example, Heylen Warehouses regularly shares timelapse videos on their social channels, such as this LinkedIn post about their project in Almelo. The HD photos taken by our cameras not only make for impressive timelapses, but are also very useful to use separately - on your website or social media, in publications or marketing materials.
